There’s something special about getting real mail—especially for kids! Whether it’s a letter, a little surprise, or something that reminds them of a shared memory, sending something fun in the mail is an easy way to stay connected. For consistent back-and-forth connections with my grandkids, I use Over the River PLUS but I still love to send a little something “extra” a few times a year. Baseball Fans
Send a package with peanuts, red ropes, and a pocket schedule for their favorite team. Let them know you’ll be cheering right along with them!
Outdoors
The weather is finally changing, and kids are ready to spend more time outdoors! Give them a reason to run around by sending a frisbee their way.
To add to the fun, google “frisbee games for kids” and print out some games for them to try.
If your grandkids are lovers of helping in the garden, there’s nothing like a fresh pair of garden gloves to start a new season. We love these grippy rubber-coated gloves that come in different sizes!
Rainy Days
If the April showers are keeping everyone inside, a pack of ‘craft stuff’ might just save the day. Pack a small box of ‘random’ supplies and pop it in the mail.
Think pipe cleaners, old greeting cards, bubble wrap, colorful paper, small wooden shapes, and a roll of tape or glue stick. An enjoyable idea would be to keep a ‘set’ for yourself, set up a time to connect virtually, and have fun crafting together.

If your grandkids haven’t experienced Charlotte’s Web, spring is the perfect time to add this to their library. It would also be a fun book to enjoy together virtually. Set up a time to chat and read a chapter at a time.
Family Stories
Spend a bit of time looking back through pictures of previous springtime activities. Print out a few, and send them off to your grandkids with some short handwritten stories.

Coloring
Google springtime coloring pages, print, and mail along with some brand new colored pencils, crayons, or markers if needed.
End of School
Have some older grandkids who are going to be knee-deep in end-of-school projects and finals? Send them a package with their favorite snacks or a gift card to their local coffee shop to keep them studying away!
