Stuff the Turkey
This is a fun little game I’ve seen quite a bit where you roll a die and depending on the number fill in a ‘turkey feather’. It can be played by all ages. For the Gratitude Challenge, we made our own version and decided to share it here as well! There are instructions and a cute free game card printable to download. You could print the game cards and mail them with some candy for markers, or forward the link so they can print their own. Your grandkids could also simply color in the ‘feathers’ instead of using candy.
One grandparent stated, “We played the turkey game over zoom with our grands. It was great! And they both thanked me for sending them the game to play. Made this grandma heart smile!”
Would You Rather
Facetime with your grandkids and wish them a Happy Thanksgiving. While you’re talking you can throw out a few “Would You Rather…” questions to them, and answer them yourself as well. To get you started, here are a few.
Would you rather eat an entire turkey, or an entire pumpkin pie?
Would you rather cook the whole thanksgiving dinner by yourself, or clean up after dinner all by yourself?
Would you rather watch football games all day, or go shopping all day?
Would you rather only be able to whisper at the dinner table, or have to shout at the dinner table?
Would you rather go forward in time and have Thankgiving dinner with your family 50 years from now, or go back in time and have Thanksgiving with family from 50 years ago?
Would you rather be able to control the TV remote or the dinner menu?
Turkeybandz
This can be played similar to the Headbanz game, or 20 questions. Here’s how you can play while facetiming or using an Alexa device with your grandkids. Print out the free game cards below. Pick two cards. Hold one card up to your forehead without looking at it. (You can even stick it on with tape or tuck it in a headband). The 2nd card will be for your grandchild, but do not show them what it says. Take turns asking yes or no questions about your cards until someone guesses what they have, then pick 2 new cards and play again.
Mad Lib
Here’s a Mad Lib we created just for grandma and the grandkids. Let them know you need a little help with a letter you are writing. Have them give you the necessary words and then read it to them. This one’s sure to get a laugh!
Send a post card
We can never express our gratefulness for someone too often, so we’ve created some Thanksgiving postcards you can print and send to your kids and grandkids. Plus, focusing on why we are grateful for them might just help us out while we’re missing them this time of year.
As you bridge the distance, we hope these 6 Thanksgiving Games for your grandkids are filled with memories!
