Halloween is a favorite holiday for all ages! Wearing costumes, eating candy, and playing games – what’s not to like? We’ve got a great collection of Halloween games for kids, so we’re going to jump right in!
We’re sure you will find some that are just perfect for you and your grandkids, whether you are celebrating together or across the miles.

Spooky Bingo
This traditional game is super cute and themed up for Halloween with its black and white images.
Use candy corn or small pieces of orange paper to mark off your squares.

Heads Up
You can make this Halloween version of the HeadBandz game right at home.
Get some index cards and write a Halloween or Fall related item on them.
Then without looking at the card, the person who is ‘it’ will hold it up to their forehead. Everyone can see the card except them.
The player will then ask questions in order to identify what is on their card. Take turns!
Some ideas to get you started on your cards are:
- candy
- spider
- bat
- black cat
- pumpkin
- monster
Great for older elementary and pre-teens!
Glow In The Dark Ring Toss
Wrap glow-in-the-dark duct tape around water bottles, or fun beverages.
Use glowsticks that can be made into circles (bracelets, or any type of connector so they fit around the beverage container) to get a ‘ringer’. These glowsticks are on major sale right now!
The person who hits the most targets wins, or you can try to get your favorite drink by landing your glowstick on your beverage.
Pin the Spider On the Web
Get a large sheet of poster paper, or purchase a sheet of poster board.
Draw a spider web on it. You could use a white chalk pen on a dark poster board, or a black marker on a white poster board.
Then give the first player a spider sticker (we like these cute ones from Hobby Lobby – watch for a 50% sale!), blindfold them, turn them around a couple of times, and allow them to ‘pin’ the Spider On the Web.
The person who attaches their spider closest to the middle of the web is your winner!
Halloween Scavenger Hunt – for the whole family!
Create a list of items that each family needs to find.
As families find the items they must take a picture with one person in their family in the picture as well.
Set a time frame and remind everyone that they must obey ALL traffic rules and be courteous if they enter a place of business.
At the end of their time, gather together (in person or virtually – this is a game that can be played in different towns at the same time!) and share your fun photos.
Here are some ideas to find:
- house with orange lights
- pumpkin
- carved pumpkin
- someone wearing a costume
- scarecrow
- haunted house
- spider web
- broom
- gravestone
- the moon

Minute to Win It – Candy Corn or Pumpkin Seed Pick Up
You’ll just need a small bowl and lots of candy corn or pumpkin seeds.
Start the timer for one minute and each player will move as many pieces of candy corn or pumpkin seeds from the table in front of them into the bowl.
Players can use their fingers or try a straw for older kids.
However, you can only move one piece at a time!
The winner is the person who moves the most pieces.
Roll a jack o lantern
Cut out an orange circle and the shapes of parts of a jack o lantern. (orange circle, triangle eyes, a nose, and a mouth or multiple teeth).
Pick a number or a couple of numbers on the dice that must be rolled before a piece can be added.
Endless variations of this can be created to keep everyone entertained!
If you have a large space to play or it’s warm enough to go outside, I can totally picture our grandkids loving playing this game with these giant inflatable dice. Our family is going to go with this size since they are more budget-friendly and we can use them indoors.

Find the Eyeball
This one just makes me laugh. Picture an Easter Egg hunt, but with google eyes.
Get this pack of 6 (3”) eyes for young grandkids, or hide eyes everywhere with this pack of 100.
Hide them around the house or your yard and let the hunt begin!
Just like an egg hunt, you can simply add variations based on the ages of your grandkids such as a timer or playing tournament style.
I absolutely can’t wait to try some of these Halloween games for kids with my granddaughters.
In fact, I’ve got some google eyes in my cart right now!
I think I’ll mail some to them as well.
I’m sure they would love hiding google eyes for me to find!
And remember, sometimes the ‘day of’ is super busy for our grandkids. Make sure to check in early, and see what day or time will work for them.
The most important thing is having those precious minutes to connect.
