Free Printable Valentine Game for Grandkids
Valentine’s Day was one of my favorite holidays growing up. I remember creating big paper heart envelopes that would hang on the front of our desks in anticipation of the class Valentine’s Day party.
Then the day would arrive, everyone would bring their handmade or purchased little cards and distribute them into each of those heart envelopes.
After passing out our cards, we would play a game and enjoy a deliciously sweet treat. Really, a pretty simple celebration, but one that was meant to show everyone they were loved.
What Do Your Grandkids Love?
Now I know that as grandparents we are extra good at showing the love to our grandkids all the time, but I’m still excited for February 14th to roll around!
In preparation to celebrate with my 3 year old granddaughter, I’ve been thinking of not only what I love about her, but also about all of the things she loves, and llamas are at the top of her list.
She discovered llamas on a walk to a local park with her mom and they’ve been her favorite creature ever since. This of course means that she’ll be receiving some llama stickers along with a Llama Llama Valentine book.
I plan to have the book shipped to our home first so I can write a message in it (something I learned from my mom-in-law) and then send everything together.
Sweet Scramble – Fun Free Printable Game
Speaking of all the things there is to love about grandkids, we thought we’d share a free printable you can use as a valentine.
We’re calling it the ‘Sweet Scramble’. Simply think about words that describe your grandkids, than scramble the letters and send it off for them to solve.
You could also follow up with a video chat or text to celebrate and confirm all those lovable attributes.
Since my little valentines are too young to unscramble words, I might actually use this game for their parents. Why not?! I could use words like ‘nfu’ (fun), ‘lepfhlu’ (helpful) and ‘rdgbie’ (bridge).
After-all one of the things I love about them is how they partner with us to bridge the distance!
Other Valentines Day Ideas
If you’re feeling crafty, check out this post from the Little Red Window blog. She’ll take you step by step in creating scratch off valentine’s that feature jokes. (“What did the volcano say on Valentine’s Day? I lava you!”) These are too cute!
Older grandkids would love to hear stories of a special valentine’s day you celebrated during your growing up years. You could describe your special day on paper and include it with a card, or record a short video sharing the story. No matter how you share it, stories are sure to be cherished!
However you celebrate – with an extra phone call, a purchased or handmade card, or by sending a special treat, we hope you have a wonderful time celebrating the special relationship that exists between you and your grandkids.
